Easy, mostly downhill winter hike from Ftan down to Scuol. The initially flat path along the sun offers views of the Lower Engadine Dolomites and Tarasp Castle opposite.

De l'arrêt CarPostal de Ftan, cumün, on traverse le village pour rejoindre le quartier voisin de Ftan Pitschen. À l'extrémité est du village, le chemin de randonnée d'hiver préparé longe le versant sud enneigé et ouvert en direction de l'est. Ici, la vue s'étend sur les dolomites de Basse-Engadine situées en face et sur le château de Tarasp qui trône fièrement sur la colline du château. Après avoir traversé le Val Corgnanca, le sentier longe la lisière d'une petite forêt (attention à la zone de protection de la faune - ne pas quitter les sentiers) avec vue sur l'Inn et les montagnes enneigées. Jusqu'ici, le chemin est majoritairement plat, avec par endroits de courts passages plus raides. Avant de traverser la piste de ski, il est possible soit de prendre le raccourci directement vers la station de départ en longeant un peu la piste et la route alpine, soit de prendre le chemin moins raide vers le vieux quartier de Scuol «Vi».

Turn-by-turn directions

  • From Ftan, cumün to Ftan Pitschen
  • At the eastern end of the village turn onto the winter hiking trail
  • Follow the path eastwards
  • Cross the ski slope, either directly to the Motta Naluns valley station or to Scuol

  • By Rhaetian Railway (from Chur, Prättigau or Oberengadin) hourly to Scuol-Tarasp.
  • By PostBus (from Tarasp or Martina) hourly to Scuol-Tarasp
  • Continue by PostBus to Ftan, cumün

Getting there

  • From the north: via Landquart – Klosters by car transport through the Vereina Tunnel (Selfranga - Sagliains) or via the Flüela Pass into the Lower Engadine on H27
  • From the east: via Landeck / Austria in the direction of St. Moritz on H27
  • From the south: via Reschenpass (Nauders-Martina) or Ofenpass (Val Müstair-Zernez) on H27

Ftan can be reached from the Engadine road H27 from Ardez or from the western end of the village of Scuol in 10 minutes by car (25 minutes drive from Veraina south portal)

Parking

  • Paid parking in Ftan at the valley station of the Ftan-Prui chairlift
  • Free parking at the Kinderland Sainas, at the guest information and at the Ftan-Pitschen entrance
