The dream trail from the Dreisprachenspitze above the Stilfser Joch to the Furkelhütte promises experienced trail riders the ultimate in downhill fun. An impressive tour through a breathtaking high mountain landscape, which is, however, extremely demanding in terms of both riding technique and physical condition!

The long and partly steep ascent over the busy Stilfserjoch road is extremely exhausting. More than 1800 metres of altitude have to be climbed before we reach the Stilfser Joch. After a last ascent to the Dreisprachenspitze, the reward finally follows: a trail descent of the very best leads us via the Furkelhütte and the Glurnser Alm into the valley. The famous Goldsee trail from the Stilfser Joch to the Furkelhütte awaits with technically demanding passages over rocky, scree-covered ground. From the hut onwards, the trail becomes much smoother to ride, until we finally reach the valley via flowing forest paths. We are accompanied on our entire tour by a gigantic panorama.

There are many hikers on the trails between the Stilfser Joch and the Furkelhütte, especially on nice summer days. Here we should definitely show great consideration and, if necessary, push our bike in narrow places. Between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. the Goldsee Trail is completely closed to mountain bikers. This closing time should be observed at all costs. Otherwise, there is a risk that the trail will be completely closed to mountain bikers again, as has already been the case in the past!

Safety information

The Goldsee Trail is exposed in sections. As it is also very narrow in parts, a careful driving style and considerate behaviour towards hikers is required. There is a danger of falling!

Tips and hints

The Goldsee Trail is closed to mountain bikers between 09:00 and 16:00. This closure time should be strictly adhered to, as the trail is also very popular with hikers and there are hardly any alternative options. Otherwise the trail may be completely closed again, as was the case from 2009 to 2011.
