Technically, because the single trails demand everything and never want to end (a total of 2750 metres downhill). Organisationally, because the route from Martina (border crossing between Switzerland and Austria) to Samnaun is rather unattractive for mountain bikers and this part of the tour is better covered by public transport.
From Martina, take the post bus to Samnaun Ravaisch. There you change to the double-decker cable car to the Tridersattel. From there the easy way down to Alp Trida and with the chairlift up to the Viderjoch. And now without any further effort on partly tricky single trails to the Fimba valley where we meet the easy road to the Heidelbergerhütte at 1816 m. After point 010 a short pushing passage. Shortly after the Heidelbergerhütte you have to push about 2/3 of the way up to the Fimberpass (about 290 metres of altitude).
What follows is one of the most beautiful but also very difficult single trail descents into the Lower Engadine. Have fun!

Author’s recommendation

The post bus leaves Martina at 08:10 (as of 2007) and arrives in Samnaun Ravaisch at 08:53. Bikers welcome!
All mountain railways in Samnaun are equipped for bike transport. For all guests staying in Samnaun, the use of all mountain railways including bike transport is free of charge during the summer season on presentation of the guest card (as of 2007).
If the route Martina - Samnaun is covered by bike, an additional 19 km and 780 metres of difference in altitude are added.
