Limestone Mountains on the Swiss border

In the upper Val Venosta, from Burgusio - Burgeis we drive along the village of Slingia - Schlinig (1,738 m, parking). The main road on the shaded side passes by two mountain huts (with refreshment area) and a waterfall and leads to the Rifugio Sesvenna (2,256 m; 2 hours). We continue westwards on route 5, passing Sesvenna Lake and reach the Sesvenna col on the ridge (2,824 m). Here we turn right (north), and walk up the rocky ridge to the Schadler Peak (2,948 m). There is a straightforward descent down a gorge, after which we continue on scree and steep rocky terrain to reach the Piz Rims summit (3,070 m; 3 hours from the refuge). If you wish you can head west down to the ridge in order to reach the Swiss border and the Piz Cristanas (3,092 m) half an hour away. Return via the same route.
