Stammerjoch
Mountain Hike
· Scuol Samnaun Val Müstair
Hike from Val Maisas to the Stammerjoch, and on through the Val Chamins back to Samnaun.
moderate
Distance 10.6 km
From Samnaun Dorf the hiking path leads into Val Maisas, past the shepherd's cabin and over alpine meadows to Rossboden. The ascent to Stammerseen is steep, but the view of Muttler and Stammerspitz is stupendous. In summer, cotton grass blooms on the banks of the Stammerseen. From Stammerjoch the hike leads through Val Chamins, which got its name from the rock formations (chimneys). After the first steep descent in stony terrain, the path becomes more pleasant. The Samnaun local mountain Piz Ot and the Piz Crappa Grischa are now your faithful companions until the hike ends in Samnaun.
