Sentiero Italia
It starts with alpine scenery and ends with salty air by the azure sea. You can hardly dive deeper into the Italian landscape:
7,850 km
350,000 m elevation gain
20 regions
364 stages
The long-distance hiking trail runs through the whole of Italy. It runs from the Alps across the Apennines to Sardinia and Sicily, connecting not only many picturesque villages but also six UNESCO World Natural Heritage sites.
CAI President Vincenzo Torti on Sentiero Italia: "We have a dream to unite all of Italy in one big embrace, walking through the extraordinary places our country has to offer once you leave the paved roads."
You can find the individual stages at the Va' Sentiero project, which is dedicated to digitising the route. You can also support them directly on-site and accompany them on their way through Italy.

Safety information
On this long long-distance trail, the signposting and marking of the paths is not always clear. Especially further south in Italy, precise planning and good map reading is a necessity.
Information on the current state of the individual stages can be found at the CAI (Club Alpino Italiano).
