Turn-by-turn directions
The Engadine; where towering mountains alternate with vast plateaus. Nestling within are tourist centers such as St. Moritz, Pontresina, and Scuol. Here, at the Maloja Pass stems the Inn, here is the starting point of the Innradweges. In Finstermünz cyclists roll on Austrian soil towards Tyrol.
Both river and bike path meander, through the Tyrolean Oberland, to Landeck. Via Imst and Roppen, cyclists roll past the backdrop of the Tyrolean Mountains to Innsbruck - a city that combines tradition and modernity. Blow by blow, interesting cities and place are lined up along the bike path: Stans, the silver town of Schwaz, Brixlegg and Kramsach. Via Wörgl and Kirchbichl cyclists storm the fortified city of Kufstein and conquer the Bavarian Inn-section.
In Brannenburg a trip to the oldest rack railway, on the Wendelstein, is worth it. From here the scenery turns into gently rolling hills, in the idyllic places like Rosenheim and Wasserburg, where the famous shrines of Altötting, Burghausen or Bad Fussing are embedded.
Braunau is the first of the historic towns that line the Inn in Upper Austria. This is followed by the European Reservoir Unterer Inn, a haven for birds. Then it's off to the Obernberg and Reichersberg with its abbey. The baroque warping Schärding is another highlight in the Innviertel before the Inn flows into the Danube in Passau.
