Demanding but very beautifully situated circular ski run in hilly terrain. The varied terrain opens up the views onto the Lower Engadine Dolomites.

From the PostBus stop Ftan, cumün approx. 300 m in the direction of the western exit of the village, at Kinderland Sainas is the trail entrance. On initially flat terrain you reach the car park at the level of the Hotel Paradies. After crossing the road, the actual Loipe Hochalpines Institut Ftan begins. The trail leads a short distance into the forest. Over several steps, the trail quickly gains altitude to reach the Ftan High Alpine Institute. On the plateau you can really enjoy the winter landscape in the picturesque surroundings. Even if the almost 100 metres in altitude seem daunting at first glance, the trail is a beautiful winter experience for skating and classic.

As a small loop, this trail is also available as a night trail. The light switch for the night trail is by the wooden hut at the car park (direction Ardez). After switching on, the light burns for one hour and then switches off automatically.

Author’s recommendation

The cross-country ski trail below the High Alpine Institute Ftan (HIF) also serves as a training trail for junior athletes of the sports class of the HIF.
