Mountain biking trails in Nauders

If you prefer natural trails, Nauders is clearly the number 1 in all of Austria. For 15 years now, mountain bikers have enjoyed the natural single trails around the cosy village on the Reschenpass. If you want to ride as many trails as possible throughout the day, it is best to buy a cable car ticket and let the gondolas take you to the starting points of the trails. There are always short transfers between the trails, so you still have to do a bit of pedalling yourself.

All in all, there are many trails to choose from.

A total of more than 20 trails are available around Nauders. The name 3-Länder Enduro Trails says it all: some of the tours and trails take you across the border into Switzerland and Italy. Along the way you will pass all kinds of beautiful places and spectacular photo stops. One highlight is the Plamort Trail across the border to Reschen. You pass the tank traps that used to mark the border here. After the great trail, you can cool off in Lake Reschen, which is really fresh even in the summer.

There are also a lot of classic mountain bike tours around Nauders, where you can master the uphill metres under your own steam. Some of these tours are nevertheless technically challenging, others are also suitable for beginners. If in doubt, most of the trails can be bypassed, but you should always be in good shape. The tours to the many lakes in the region are rewarding. The centrally located Reschensee with its famous church tower rising out of the water can be reached on numerous tours.

The tour to Grünsee and on to Schwarzsee is also magnificent. On this loop, too, technical trails alternate with easy sections. If the weather is nice, you can also take a break for a swim. A technically easy tour takes you into the beautiful Langtaufer Valley on the South Tyrolean side of the Reschen Pass. In this beautiful side valley, the region shows itself from its most beautiful side.

The classic through the Uina Gorge is definitely one of the difficult tours in the Dreiländereck. The well-known section through the gorge via the spectacularly designed path is the highlight of this tour with high demands on fitness and riding technique. The section is also often passed in the course of a Transalp, but this round tour can also be done from Nauders.

A challenging and spectacular multi-day mountain bike tour also starts at the Reschen Pass. The „Accomplice Tour“ follows paths that were used by smugglers in the past. In three or four days, starting from Nauders, you can explore the Vinschgau Valley, one of the best MTB areas in the Alps. After the start in Nauders, the Uina Gorge, the Umbrail Pass and the Stelvio Pass follow as great classics that offer unforgettable views and descents – a highlight for all mountain bikers with a good physical condition and riding technique.
