Ferienhaus Stalla d'Immez
For over four hundred years the Stalla d´Immez served as a stable for horses and other animals. Its annex, originally placed on top of the hen house, was used as a chamber for the farm labourers. Centrepieces of the space are the delicate attic and the impressive path for the hay wagon cutting the room in half. In 2021 Micha Friemel and Tim Krohn, writers and couple living in Santa Maria, worked together with the local cultural heritage agency to ensure both the preservation of the space and a modern living environment. In addition guests can find a small garden patch with herbs, flowers and berries next to the apartment, as well as a parking space in the courtyard.
SANTA MARIA
The small mountain village, located 1,375 metres above sea level, has an historical centre of unspoiled beauty. It is home to a number of creatives such as writers, artists, journalists of national and international reputation. In addition one can find the renowned hand weaving mill Tessanda, a museum about the exciting story of the valley during World War I, a Whiskey distillery, an antique carpenter´s workshop, two riding stables, various offers for you mental and physical health, such as Aryuvedic treatments, Shiatsu, Yoga, Zen archery, ‘Vita´ exercise courses and several walks. It houses both the smallest hospital in Switzerland as well as the smallest bar in the world.
During summer the artists´ association Art Val Müstair organises a well known exhibition of modern art free of charge. In Santa Maria you can also find the Chasa Parli, a retreat for writers and those seeking peace and quiet, also providing writer´s workshops upon request. At the very edge of the village lies a large adventure playground with an outdoor BBQ area. Like most mountain villages Santa Maria has been built along the thoroughfare (speed limit 30 km/h). The Stalla d´Immez, however, is located at a distance from the main road with a view of the mountains Piz Lad and Piz Terza.
