Bike rides in Taufers im Muenstertal

The bike tour from Prad over the Stilfser Joch and the Umbrail Pass is a classic for well-trained road cyclists and mountain bikers.

Die Alp Champatsch (2087 m) liegt im Münstertal, wunderschön eingebettet auf einer Almwiese, umgeben von einem Lärchen- und Zirbenwald. Die Alm liegt unterhalb des Passo Costaines (2251 m) und bildet den Übergang ins S-charltal, ins Engadin und Scuol.

Der Ofenpass (2149 m) verbindet das Val Müstair mit Zernez im Engadin. Die Grenze zur Schweiz passiert man bereits nach 9,5 km in Taufers. Das erste Dorf in der Schweiz ist Müstair, mit dem Weltkulturerbe Kloster St. Johann.  

A tour across two countries is always something special, and this one is no exception. Highlights are certainly the Bocchetta di Forcola and the subsequent spectacular military trail down to the two reservoirs. The Val Mora in the Rhaetian Alps inspires many transalpers on their one-week crossing.

Mit dem E-Bike auf das 2.758 m hohe Stilfserjoch zu radeln, ist eine sportliche Herausforderung für jeden begeisterten Bikeurlauber in Südtirol. Immerhin sind 48 Kehren und 1.869 Höhenmeter zu bewältigen. Die Passstraße gehört zu den imposantesten Bauwerken im Alpenraum. In nur 5 Jahren (1820 bis 1825) wurde die etwa 50 km lange Straße von Trafoi bis Bormio unter der Leitung von Ing. Carlo Donegani gebaut. Dadurch wurde die Lombardei, die zum Kaiserreich Österreich gehörte, mit den anderen Reichsteilen verbunden.   

Donnerstag, 23. juli, oder Freitag, 24. Juli 2020 Panoramafahrt vom Ofenpass talauswärts (orografisch links) über Alp da Munt zur Alp Champatsch und weiter bis zur Grenze. Ab Alp da Munt zuerst flowige Singletrails und dann aussichtsreiche Forststraßen.

Over the Döss Radond.The Val Müstair on the border with South Tyrol is the easternmost point of Switzerland. This cross-border bike tour also starts there. The village of Müstair is also home to the St. Johann Monastery, which is still inhabited by Benedictine nuns and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The interior of the monastery church was painted around 800 with Carolingian frescoes, which are a unique cultural-historical monument of early medieval sacred imagery.

The Avigna Valley is a rather lonely side valley just before the Swiss border. The landscape is breathtaking. The alpine pasture itself is quite wide and not steep, but to the left and right the three-thousand-metre peaks of Piz Starlex, Lorenziberg and Piz Sesvenna tower up.
